Snowflake Art, From Micrographs to Jewelry
Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley spent his life doing something wonderfully odd: photographing snowflakes before they melted. In the late 1800s, armed with a microscope and endless curiosity, he captured thousands of snow-crystal images that revealed just how intricate each tiny flake really is. His micrographs are still mesmerizing today, delicate, geometric, and completely unique.
Bentley cared deeply about sharing that beauty. As he once wrote, “Every crystal was a masterpiece of design, and no one design was ever repeated.”
That same quiet beauty shows up in a piece of jewelry inspired by his work: the Snowflake Jewelry from Museum Reproductions. Made of pewter with a silver finish and set with Austrian crystals, it captures the crisp symmetry of Bentley’s photographs in a form you can actually wear. It even comes with both a cord and a ribbon, so it works as a necklace, a brooch, or a holiday ornament.
