Amphora Jewelry from Ashmolean Museum - Final Release
Over the years, we have made many pieces of jewelry inspired by the art from the Ashmolean Museum. We recently created a pendant and earrings inspired by the amphora on the sitarah made for the Mosque of the Prophet in Medina. We wrote about our product development process here.
The sitarah is a decorative textile traditionally placed over the Prophet Muhammad's grave. It is richly adorned with intricate calligraphy and motifs, often including Quranic verses and Islamic patterns. Amphoras are ancient vessel forms, typically used for storing liquids like wine and oil.
The amphora is stylistically integrated into the design of the sitarah. This integration would blend traditional Islamic artistry with functional or symbolic elements, representing the convergence of historical and religious significance.
After many months of development, we are happy to present our final product, shown below. We worked hard to revise the color, thickness and final presentation. This piece will be available at the British Museum and many other fine institutions so keep an eye out!
